After receiving some fantastic beauty bits over Christmas and my Birthday, and making some cheeky purchases since, I am putting myself on a bit of a spending ban. I really don’t need to be buying anything else and want to concentrate on using up what I have. I was pretty pleased with the results of my shopping trips so thought I would share my pre ban hauls with you all.
One of my best friends, Jenn, moved to Canada five years ago. Although it sucks her being so far away, it does give me fantastic access to all the make up goodies we can’t get over here in the UK. Before her most recent visit, she made a trip to Sephora for me, and through the power of Whatsapp, we had the most fun shopping trip ever!
If you want to see what she picked up for me then keep reading…
Marc Jacobs Cream and Nude Lip Trio ($33 CAD) – One of the brands I got Jenn to look at for me was Marc Jacobs. I had used one of their lipsticks before, but as it is a super luxe brand, I hadn’t treated myself since. Like most make up lovers, I love me a good nude. This lipstick is beautiful, and the lip liner complements it perfectly. The addition of the gloss brings the look from daytime to glam. I haven’t tried a gloss from Marc Jacobs before, so can’t wait to give this one a try.
Tatcha The Silk Canvas Primer ($22 CAD) – Most of the beauty channels I am subscribed to on YouTube seem to belong to people based in the US. They have all recently been raving about Tatcha as a brand, and the Silk Canvas Primer in particular. I have wanted to try it for so long, but the price doubled when you added shipping and tax when ordering from the UK, so I have had to admire from afar. Naturally I jumped at the chance to be able to give it a try! Being sensible I went for the smaller size to see how I got on. Although I have not used it as part of a full face of make up yet, from playing around I can report that it feels lovely, smooth and incredibly light.
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara ($16 CAD) – Tarte is actually available in the UK, and I can regularly be found admiring the sets they have available on the QVC website. This mascara is another much raved about product that I really just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I love the packaging, which stands out in my make up collection, and the brush is similar to that on others that I enjoy using. Lets see how it fairs against my favourite high end mascaras from the likes of Mac and Benefit.
Sephora #Eyestore Eye Palette in Caffeine Please ($14 CAD) – Although I do already own a Sephora eyeshadow palette, I’ve never actually used it (bad Ashleigh!) so I’m not too sure on the actual quality of their formula. However, when Jenn sent me a photo of this cute little palette, I just had to have it! Firstly, as you may have guessed from my blogs title, I’m a big fan of tea, so the theme of this really jumped out at me. The actual shade range is spot on too though. The neutral mattes will be perfect for daily use, and the shimmers will take day looks straight through to night. It reminds me of the Urban Decay Naked Basics palettes, which I love, so I can’t wait to have a play around with this!
Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Eyeshadow Palette ($33 CAD) – Last but by no means least! I have lusted after Natasha Denona eyeshadows since Casey Holmes first shared hers over on her YouTube channel. However, these babies are expensive! To buy even the mini size in the UK you are looking at upwards of forty pounds, but this little beauty only came in at $33 plus tax. Mini Sunset was the only variety available of the mini palettes, but I absolutely love the five individual shades and think it would have been my first choice anyway. A quick swatch tells me that these are equally as awesome as I have seen and heard online.
So, there we have it, my little Sephora haul, I’m so happy with all of my purchases! I’ve added links to everything but unfortunately they’ll only work for Canada, and will default to the European site from the UK. If you would like to see my daily make up looks then be sure to check out my makeup panning Instagram account – ashpans, where I can be found talking about make up and beauty all day every day! (Plus I host fab giveaways too!).
