Eating Out- Back Inn Time, Chelmsford

Back Inn Time

Hi Everyone!

As part of my blog relaunch I wanted to focus on some more lifestyle content as well as beauty. For today’s post I thought I would tell you about a restaurant local to me that I have loved for over 20 years! Back Inn Time recently came under threat, with a planning application being made to build (even more…) new flats at its current location. Thankfully after incredible support from the public (my friends and me included), the council rejected the application and it is here to stay! What better way to celebrate than tell you all about my favourite place to eat.

BIT1

Back Inn Time is located on Victoria Road in Chelmsford, and is a two minute walk from the train station. It has been open since 1986, so is nearly as old as me! With it’s American theme, the interior and decor celebrates the very best of the US. The attention to detail is fantastic, and even now I find myself spotting something new every time I visit. My favourite feature has to be the electronic train that makes it’s way around the track throughout the restaurant. It is something we look for straight away as soon as we walk through the door!

The restaurant is made up of a variety of tables and booths, and caters to groups of any size. I have a huge immediate family and pretty much all of us have chosen to celebrate our birthdays there at some point. With around 20 meals being ordered each time, we have never had a problem with cold food or incorrect orders.

Speaking of Birthdays, if you happen to be celebrating one at Back Inn Time be sure to let the staff know. During you meal the staff will gather together to sing a very energetic rendition of Happy Birthday, and produce a fairy cake complete with candle free of charge.

The staff are one of the many things that give the restaurant its unique charm. No matter who has served me over the years, they have been attentive, friendly, knowledgable and literally couldn’t do enough for you. If you find yourself unsure what to pick from the excellent menu, they are always on hand to tell you more, and make recommendations.

The menu at Back Inn Time has everything you would expect from it’s American theme. Starters include nachos, chicken wings and loaded potato skins. For mains you can treat yourself to an array of burgers, steaks and ribs. If you still have space for dessert choices include pancakes, waffles and sundaes. There is also a special lunch time menu, which offers great value if you have the chance to pop in during the day. Portions are generous but don’t worry if you can’t finish your meal, staff are happy to provide you with a doggy bag to take home.

BIT4

As well as all the delicious food, Back Inn Time has one of the best cocktail menu’s in town. If you are tee total you can still indulge as they have a fantastic selection of alcohol free cocktails. My personal favourite is Little Sweetheart, which is made up of passion fruit, strawberry and orange juice.

I’ve always found the menu prices reasonable, with starters around the £6.00 mark, mains around £12.00, and desserts around £5.00. However, if you follow Back Inn Time on their social media you will be able to access a voucher for 50% off  food Sunday-Thursday. This is such a steal in my opinion, and reinforces the fact that it’s well worth a visit. You can find them on Instagram here, and check out their website for more info here.

As you can tell, I’m a huge fan! But don’t just take my word for it, book a table today!
