I often get tagged in Q&A style posts but never get round to completing any, so when I was tagged to do the Sunshine Blogger Award by my sister Katy of School Run Beauty I knew I had to get straight on it, particularly as I love some of the questions.
So the gist of The Sunshine Blogger tag is that you are tagged by a fellow blogger, who sets you 11 questions to answer. When you post your answers to the questions, you then tag 11 other bloggers, and set them 11 questions to answer – simple! So to begin with, here’s Katy’s questions for me.
Who is your favourite fellow blogger? Argh this is such a tough one because I really do genuinely have loads! Firstly, I really do love Katy’s blog School Run Beauty, and I’m not just saying that because she’s my sister honestly. Her content is so varied and original, and is great for finding reviews of things you may not have seen before. I also love reading posts from bloggers local to me, such as Gemma, Michelle, Laura and Sarah (if you’re from Essex make sure you leave me your link below so I can share some love on your pages!). If we’re talking more ‘well known’ bloggers then my favorites have to be Em Talks and Vix Meldrew (who are actually very different, which gives you an indication of my varied tastes!).
How would you describe your personal style? Baggy, dragged through a hedge backwards with leggings that like to fall down. The style I would actually like to have, and what I used to go for when I was more comfortable with my size etc, was more simple, comfortable, with a bit of an edge. So, for example, I loved jeans and a plain tee, but I would go for more edgy accessories. Basically, I like my outfits to be simple and for the accessories to do the talking. Sorry, that’s about the best answer I have right now! Style is something I really want to work on though this year, I feel much happier in my own skin now, and as a result, want to dress like it.
Would you ever consider plastic surgery? If so, what would you have done? I make no secret of the fact that in the future I plan to have my ‘boobs sorted’ as I like to say. When I was 17 I lost about 4 stone in 6 weeks due to illness and I have never been happy with them since. So many times I have not been able to buy bikini’s, underwear or other types of clothing that I like because they just don’t offer the support and make me look, to put it bluntly, like I have spaniels ears. It’s something I have discussed with my husband at length and it is something I will look in to when it’s financially viable.
Where is your favourite place you have visited? Although I absolutely loved my honeymoon in America, my hands down favourite place in the world is Ibiza. It is officially my happy place and I can’t wait until I return in five weeks time!
What one piece of advice would you give your teenage self? Treasure every moment with the ones you love because you never know when you are going to lose them. Also, get your eyebrows waxed, total game changer.
What is your earliest childhood memory? When I was only about 20 months old me and my mum went to Ireland, then my Dad got blood poisoning and she had to go back home earlier than planned. It was decided that mum would go home without me and my uncle would fly back with me a couple of weeks later. Anyway, my earliest memory is of me being on the plane home and one of the cabin crew members came round with the trolley but he was asleep so she gave me some sweets for free. That is literally the earliest thing in my life I can remember!
Can you remember what your last dream was about? Funnily enough I actually can! I dreamt that I had a bright yellow and orange car last night. That’s it. Random right?
Do you have a shopping wish list? If yes, what is currently at the top of it? I always have a wish list! I haven’t been buying much lately in a bid to save money, so the list is getting bigger… I would say from a make up and beauty perspective a Natasha Denona eye shadow palette is right at the top. I also desperately need a new laptop as mine has died a death (*sad face emoji*).
Have you had more than one career? I have worked for the Ambulance service for nearly 13 years. The majority of that time has been in the control room, but last January I joined the Communications Team for just over a year, which was a great learning experience. I’m now back in the control room again. I would happily spend the rest of my working life with the Ambulance service, but can see myself moving on to a different role at some point.
What meal would you choose for your last supper? Ok, for a starter I would have a combo platter (you know, the type that has a bit of everything, like chicken wings, onion rings, nachos… that sort of thing). Then I would have a big huge burger, man vs food style huge. For pudding I would then have American pancakes with syrup and bacon, with a side of whipped cream. Then to wash it down I would of course have a nice pot of tea. Well, I don’t know about you, but that has now made me very hungry!
What advice would you give anyone thinking of starting a blog? This is a tough one because there is so much ‘advice’ out there and it isn’t always received very well. I guess the one thing I would say is don’t be afraid to play around a bit. If you want to change your content, do so. If you want to change how the blog looks, do so. You are in control and answerable to no one, especially in those early days, so you do you boo. However, if you do want some proper advice, the amazing Em Sheldon has this great post which is definitely worth a read.
